General lighting, emergency lighting and backup power serve different purposes. Explain the area, users and consequences of losing the service so the correct requirement can be established. Existing reports, circuit information and equipment specifications make that conversation more useful.

Provide the site address, affected system, existing drawings or reports and known operating constraints. Identify critical loads, retained specialists and who can authorise isolation. Shutdown planning must include the effect on connected systems and the checks needed before return to use.

Access, circuit information, equipment condition, working hours and the extent of testing affect price and programme. Completion records should describe the actual scope, checks and unresolved items. An attendance note alone does not explain the condition of the whole installation.
