Frequently asked questions
Why does a gully overflow after cleaning?
Cleaning removes the immediate restriction, but overflow can continue if the outlet, downstream capacity, pipe condition, levels or rainfall exceeds what the arrangement can manage. Are gullies part of the foul drainage system?
Usually not. Gullies commonly serve surface water, while foul drainage serves wastewater; the actual connection must be confirmed from plans or inspection rather than assumed. Can surface-water flooding be fixed by clearing inlets?
